The Beijing Diaries

We step forward together into a world none of us has seen before.

A memoir in the present tense. Beijing classrooms in the late summer sun, a teacher no longer young among students who give their affection without reserve, facing a future as unfamiliar to them as it is to him — in search of the one thing that no machine can automate: the meaning in our ideas. Volume III of Seasons in China, written as it happens, on Substack.
